Awareness campaign on forest fire
KHONSA, Jan 10: The DFO, Deomali Forest Division explained the public, students and teachers of Residential Girls School, Borduria and staff of Deomali Forest Division about forest fires and its ill effects and control measures in details in an awareness camp today.
He requested the students of the school and the public as well to act as an ambassador to disseminate the message of forest fires to their parents and common masses and to control forest fires in order to safeguard the vegetation and environment.
Wanglin Lowangdong, Speaker, released the posters on forest fires. He dealt at length regarding conservation of forest and wild life by the local population. He also spoke regarding the evils of forest fires and its subsequent detrimental effects on ecology and environment. He appealed to public leaders, students and everybody present to assist the department of Environment and Forests to control forest fires.

ITANAGAR, Jan 10: Arunachal Teachers Association (ATA) East Kameng District Unit today deeply mourned the death of assistant teacher Sanjay Taniang who passed away on Thursday. Late Taniang was serving as assistant teacher at government primary school Niti Darlong of Seijosa circle under East Kameng. He joined in service on 14th April 1987. ZIRO, Jan 10: Director Art and Culture Mamta Riba and Secretary IPR Indira Mallo Jain visited the Talley Valley which was recently shortlisted among various sites from India for UNESCO World Heritage site by Archaeological Survey of India.
Expressing her joy over Talley Valley being shortlisted for UNESCO world heritage site, the Secretary IPR, congratulated the people of Lower Subansiri district and exhorted the concern authorities to ensure that endangered species are protected from local hunters. More new species are waiting to be discovered in this rich treasure of biodiversity, she added.
The Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the famous attractions of Ziro that houses a diverse range of flora and fauna. The sanctuary is spread over an area of 337 sqkm. and is surrounded by silver fir trees, ferns, orchids, bamboo and rhododendron.
This sanctuary offers abode to several endangered species like clouded leopards. Situated towards the northwest of Ziro, Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary is known as a biodiversity zone.

ITANAGAR, Jan 10: In a meeting held at Yupia on Wednesday, Papum Pare deputy commissioner Pige Ligu has instructed EROs and AEROs to be in readiness ensuing Panchayati Raj election scheduled to be held in the month of April and May. DC also urged all the heads of the department to give the name of officers and staffs at earliest for advance preparedness of the election. ADC Tarin Dakpe also instructed EROs and AEROs to publish the error free panchayati Raj Electoral Roll as per the schedule of the state election commission. Capital Police accords top priority to Tongam shooting case: SP
ITANAGAR, Jan 10: The Capital Police has accorded the highest importance to the investigation into Tongam Rina shooting case, said SP Capital Surender Kumar in a release today.
Reacting to a press statement of Arunachal Press Club (APC) and Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) in which they had expressed concern over slow pace of investigation into Tongam Rina shooting case, the SP clarified that “a letter has been received from CBI wherein it has been stated that after due consultations and considerations, CBI had requested that this case may not be endorsed to it for investigation and the said agency has conveyed its regret to the State Govt. in this regard.’’
Informing that the Capital Police is carrying out the investigation into this case on day to day basis, the release further said “six police teams have been constituted each headed by SI rank officer to investigate into different angles of the case. These teams have been working into the case investigation from day one and they are working very hard to work out and to arrest the culprits involved in this case.”
“In the recent past, we have approached to the victim and we have discussed the case investigation with her. Even during AAPSU election, three teams were regularly working into investigation of the said case and are directly monitored by SP himself. Further, it has been conveyed to the concerned that the victim or the victim’s family may depute someone trustworthy to sit into the meeting of the Police teams held on regular basis to monitor the case investigation,” the release added.

Apex Bank signs MoU with NHFDC for economic empowerment of PWDs
ITANAGAR, Jan 10: The Arunachal Pradesh State Cooperative Apex Bank Ltd has signed an MoU with the National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India on January 10 paving the way to finance developmental schemes of the Corporation by the Apex Bank in the state. A workshop was also organized by the Apex Bank in collaboration with the NHFDC at Conference of Agriculture Department, Naharlagun to sensitize the apex bank officials and persons with disabilities (PWDs) on various promotional schemes of the Corporation.
The NHFDC officials Mr Mishra, Company Secretary and A. Kumar, Chief Manager, gave an impressive power point presentation of loan and other promotional schemes.
R.D. Thongon, Jt RCS gave an elaborate background how the department of cooperation takes initiative for implementation of the scheme in the state. He has advised the beneficiaries to avail the schemes and use the loan amount judiciously.

The cash award of Rs. 15,000 was awarded to Tatum Charu. The second largest tree under this category, another Hollock (Terminalia myriocorpa) has been located at Pugging Village, under Yingkiong Forest Range of Yingkiong Forest Division, which has a girth of 17 meters. Proponent Yoppak Sitek received the cash award of Rs. 5000 for his effort.

ITANAGAR, Jan 10: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh General (Retd) JJ Singh inaugurated a Children Park at Raj Bhawan Complex, Itanagar today. First Lady of the State Anupama Singh, Chairman Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Development and Marketing Board Techi Kaso, Chief Secretary Dr. H.K. Paliwal, PCCF & Principal Secretary Environment & Forests D.V. Negi, Development Commissioner Ramesh Negi, Secretary to Governor Ankur Garg and host of guests and invitees along with children from different schools of the Capital Complex and Raj Bhawan Complex were present on the occasion.
The park was envisaged by the Governor and First lady as part of beautification of Raj Bhawan complex and has been constructed by Department of Environment and Forests.
The first couple also unveiled a lively looking model of Tyrannosaurs Rex, which is being installed in the park by Department of Science and Technology. The model is made up of Glass fibre resistant to heat and rain and has been procured from Science City Kolkata a unit of National Council of Science & Museum under Ministry of Culture, Govt of India.
Adding festivity to the inaugural function, the students of Vivekananda Kendra Vidhyalaya, Chimpu and Kidzee, Niti Vihar presented cultural items. Musical Chair and ‘Tug of War’ competitions were organized. A plantation programme was also conducted on the occasion. A painting competition was also conducted on the eve of the inaugural function.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor expressed his hope that the park will be immensely benefit to the children of the Capital complex. He advised them to avail optimum benefit out of it and at the same time take care of the park.
The Governor said that children are the future of the State. If they work hard and keep physically fit, the future of Arunachal Pradesh will be better. Exhorting them to contribute towards the State and Nation, the Governor advised them to be obedient to their teachers and parents.
The First Lady of the State also advised the children to take part in outdoor physical activities and utilize the park properly. She also appreciated the creative and aesthetic potential of the children who took part in the painting completion.
The park, measuring an area of 1282.50 Sq has a Cresent slide, a Wide slide, a double arc swing, a Marry go around, a Brinjal, a Victoria Bench, a Stadium Bench and a Multiactivity play system.
It has a boundary wall of height from 1.0 m with 1.5 m with decorative grills. Earth filling of 2,551.50 Cu.m has been done to provide a gentle gradient to the park. It has internal walking path made of interlock bricks measuring 135.0 m long inside the park. Bermuda hybrid grass has been planted along with planting of golden hedge and ornamental shrub (gold christ ) and cycus plants along the boundary wall. To make it more attractive to children, painting of cartoon characters on the inner boundary wall of the park has been done measuring total of 1,470.15 Sq.ft.

In his brief speech, Tourism Director A K Singh said that since the State Govt. has declared tourism as an Industry, the main objective of the Tourism Department is to market the Tourism potential of Arunachal Pradesh to the other part of the world. While expressing concern that very few people of the state have realized its potential and developed a sense of professionalism in the tourism sector, he hoped that things would get better in future.
Dr. Riken Rina, Jt. Director (B/S) APSACS, while attending the programme as resource person said that promotion of tourism is very important to boost state’s economy and also to generate self employment. At the same time it has the potentiality to increase sexual activity for which awareness on disease like, HIVAIDS is very important.
While quoting the example of Thailand which is known for Sex Tourism but having very low incidence of HIV, he said that sexual activity is biological necessity which always does not lead to HIV but ignorance can.
Dr. Rina also provided through PowerPoint presentation the details on HIV scenario at global, national and state level. He also made the participants aware about STI syndromes and treatment.

Director (IEC) APSACS in his welcome address said that the joint endeavour of both APSACS and Tourism Department having same target can help achieve desired result to sensitize in their concern areas. Panggeng discourages opium cultivation
YINGKIONG, Jan 10: Local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary J K Panggeng cautioned the villagers against opium cultivation and drugs addiction in a development cum public meeting at Jeying camp yesterday.
Addressing the villagers, Panggeng educated the villagers about ill effects of drugs addiction and discouraged cultivation of opium. He advised them to take up cultivation of cash crops like, Tea, Cardamom, Rubber.
Discussing on present education scenario, the parliamentary secretary urged the teachers to discharge duty sincerely. He took strong exception to the reported irregularities of SSA teachers.

Addressing a gathering of state intelligentsia at Hotel Tosum here today, Kannan said spreading the human philosophy of the great monk to embrace the humanity without any distinction would be the greatest tribute to him on his 150th birth anniversary.
Swamiji was a great patriot who had turned the destiny of the world, Bharat in particularly by awakening the youth to shoulder the responsibility of steering the humanity on the right path.
The RSS is committed to take foreword the unfinished task of the Swamiji during the celebrations and has been working in this direction for the last 87 years.
Underscoring the importance of indigenous faith and culture, he said such faith are the oldest and mother of all cultures, which should be promoted and popularized among the younger generations for their protection for the posterity.

District Task Force meeting for IPPI held

Addressing the members, Talo assured full cooperation from the district administration for the program, and exhorted the members to voluntarily support the cause.
DFWO Dr. K Basar dealt in details the district plan for IPPI. With 6865 target group and 488 manpower needed to carry out the first phase of immunization on January 20, Dr Basar requested the member departments to cooperate and make the program a success. He also informed that this year the migratory laborers and their residing areas have been targeted as high risk areas and emphasized on intensifying immunization in those areas.
DMO H Tam also informed the members that house to house immunization will also be carried out after January 20. The members present also decided to have a panel discussion at AIR for widespread publicity of the campaign.

Police will be held responsible for failure in Rina shooting case

This is in response to news item published today in regards to Tongam shooting case. It is surprising to note that some police officers privately informed the press persons about the involvement of some powerful persons which are making the investigation difficult. One can assume easily those persons must be in power (government), otherwise they would not have been able to interfere in the investigation. But again who can be more powerful than the governor and the chief minister? If the investigators are finding it difficult, why don't they report it to the media directly or to the CM as he is holding the portfolio of home minister? As the saying goes "hatoo mein chudiya pehenni chahiye" is apt for the police department. Whatever the reasons, if the investigators keep mum, they will be held responsible for public uprising which is likely in the future. And to the organizations in the name of community, youths, student union etc, they should analyze again that Tongam shooting case is not simply an attack on the media, it involves massive corruption, misuse of power, politics, threat to law and order, unethical and immorality of our society. They should come forward and lend help to the press fraternity. Lastly hope that our CM will take right steps before its citizens and before the eyes of God.

Confusion after confusion

Through your esteemed daily I'd like to share my little confusion regarding the recent "Advertisement for recruitment of District Project Managers" published recently in the website of State Govt. by Department of Information Technology, GoAP. First of all I'd like to ask, why wasn't this published on official website of Department of IT i.e; www.apdit.in? And above that, now most of the departments and district administrations even institutions and small firms of Arunachal are having and maintaining their own website, then why the highest department in the field of IT in our state doesn't have their own website? What happened to their previous one?
Now, It says that the Advertisement is for recruitment of District Project Manager,
and it also says that "The overall objective of hiring a DPM is to work closely and
support Deputy Commissioner as well as District e-
But the amazing and most surprising thing lies in the ELIGIBILITY Criteria which
is "BCA/B.Sc-
Also, the method of form submission is very confusing. It's written that the applications
will be only accepted online. And surprisingly there's no place for online-
Of all the Departments or people, this was most unexpected of the State's Highest Department in the INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY field. They themselves being the State's premier in IT, how can they commit such kinds of mistakes? Also, according to me and most of the people, this was the first ever advertisement published by the Department of IT in all these years. Thanking You,

Don’t taste our patience
Dear Editor,
While going through the newspaper this morning, I thoroughly read the news item “Tongam shooting case: Press fraternity express concern over slow pace of investigation, demand update.” It is quite shocking to know that police officers in privately is expressing their inability to crack case due to involvement of powerful people. My sympathy goes out to press fraternities of state who are still fighting for their colleague, though rest of state had forgot her case. Chief Minister Nabam Tuki along with parliamentary secretary for home Gadam Ete on numerous occasions had promised to deliver justice. What happened to their promises? Are these politicians trying to fool people of Arunachal with their fake promises?
A lot was expected from present SP Capital Surender Kumar, a young IPS officer when he joined. But as days are passing on, he too is failing to show any sincerity in regards to Tongam Rina case. I appeal to the capital police to reveal the name of those powerful people who are involved in Rina. Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and Capital police has lot to answer. The people of Arunachal are waiting but please don’t taste our patience.
